Victory!

Victory is sweet. I don't know very many people that don't like to win at things. Especially men.

A year ago, I was the starting point guard for the single sward basketball team. I loved it. The team played hard, had very few players, but didn't win a whole lot.

Over the course of the last year, some return missionaries have come home that are good basketball players. I on the other hand, can no longer play due to the fact that I got married!

Instead of playing, I am now coaching. We have real practices every week, and now have gobs of people on our rotation. Our first game was 3 weeks ago. I had to work and missed that game. Our team came back from 16 down to win the game. I wish I could have been there. The next game I was ready for my coaching debue but the other team didn't show up (I will take the W's however they come).

Last night was our third game. A nasty storm was rolling its way through southeastern Idaho and snowed in two of our guys. Even without those two, we still had eleven guys to play. It was great.

We started the game on a 14-2 run and never looked back. The final score had us winning by 30 points. Victory is good, but pure annihilation is so sweet. Even winning by 30 points, we still didn't use our best weapon, our age! I could have subbed the entire bench every 3 minutes and told the guys to run the other team into the dirt. Instead we played patient ball, used the paint and still won by 30 points!

We played well, but still not perfectly. There are other teams in the league that will exploit our weakness, which is our aggressive defense. Other teams will get our players fouled out, and kill our best weapon. Next week is a true test, the ward I live in, Westview.
